Abstract

In current research, Pseudomonas putida @ Chitosan hybrid biosorbent capability for U(VI) biosorption in a fixed bed column was investigated. The results showed that the increase in inlet concentration from 50 to 200 mg/L increased the biosorption capacity from 188.75 to 429.28 mg/g. In the column system, the sorption capacity was higher than that of the batch system because fixed bed column make best use of the inlet concentration difference as sorption driving force. Decrease in inlet flow rate through increase in the residence time for better diffusion or interaction as well as greater access to binding sites for uranium ions caused an improvement in column performance. Decline in the biosorption capacity due to increase in the inlet flow rate demonstrated that intraparticle diffusion was the rate-controlling step. With decreasing in the sorbent particle size from 1.5 to 1 mm, a significant increase in the biosorption capacity from 179.02 to 296.87 mg/g was achieved. FTIR and potentiometric titration confirmed that while –NH3+ was the dominant functional group in the chitosan, –NH3+, –NH3, –OH, –COOH were responsible for the hybrid biosorbent. In conclusion, the present study indicated that Pseudomonas putida @ Chitosan could be a suitable biosorbent for U(VI) biosorption from aqueous solution in the continuous system.

Abstract

Backgrounds: Several studies have elucidated vitamin D as an important immunomodulatory factor regulating immune responses to different viral infections and vaccines. This study aimed to evaluate the impact of 25(OH) D serum levels on immune responses to hepatitis B virus (HBV) vaccine.
Materials & Methods: This study was conducted on 134 healthy individuals aged 18-35 years, referring to health centers for HBV vaccination in Mane and Samalghan city in North Khorasan, Iran from June to September 2021. Demographic data were collected through a questionnaire. Serum 25(OH) D levels were analyzed using commercial sandwich ELISA kits. Anti-hepatitis B surface antibody (anti-HBsAb) levels were determined in blood samples 4-6 weeks post-vaccination.
Findings: The prevalence of vitamin D deficiency and insufficiency among the participants was 46.3 was 34.3%, respectively. The level of 25(OH) D was insignificantly higher in women than in men. There was no significant association between serum 25(OH) D levels and participants' ethnicities and BMI ranges. Anti-HBsAb titer was significantly higher in participants with sufficient vitamin D levels compared to those with insufficient and deficient levels (1835 ± 252.55 vs. 1129 ± 120.7 and 1363 ± 0.125 ng/ml). Serum anti-HBsAb levels post HBV vaccination were significantly higher in women and younger individuals than in men and older individuals, respectively.
Conclusion: This study findings suggest that participants with different serum vitamin D levels produce seroprotective antibody titers post HBV vaccination, while those with sufficient vitamin D levels may produce higher titers against HBV vaccine.

Abstract

Nonlinear relationship between education and e The main objective of this study is to investigate the role of human capital on economic growth in different economies. For this purpose, we consider a model in which the growth rate of total factor productivity (GRTFP) depends on human capital stock levels, and human capital affects GRTFP through innovation and technology adoption from abroad. Using a cross-country panel approach for 104 countries, including 79 developing countries and 25 OECD countries, in five-year intervals during the 1980-2005, we found the relationship between human capital and economic growth is nonlinear. In addition, the development of domestic technology is more effective factor on economic growth in developing countries than catch-up factor, while human capital accumulation through technology adoption from abroad is more effective factor on economic growth in developed countries. conomic growth (Barro and Lee's approach in measuring human capital) The goal of this study was to investigate the role of human capital on economic growth in different economies. For this purpose, we examine the relation between growth rate and human capital by econometric models. In this paper, using the panel approach to Iran and 103 other countries, and considering the five-year moving average during 2005-1980. we realized that the relationship between levels of human capital and economic growth is nonlinear and development of domestic technology, operating more important role in economic growth in developing countries. The main result of this paper denote that there are different between growth pattern among developed and developing countries.

Abstract

The effects of Satureja rechingeri essential oil (Sr-EO), sodium dodecyl sulfate (SDS) and citric acid on increasing the shelf life of chicken fillets during refrigerated storage were investigated. The treatments included 28 chicken fillets divided into four groups, with three replicates each. Each group was immersed in a solution containing normal saline (control), 0.5% Sr-EO, 0.5% Sr-EO + 0.5% SDS, or 0.5% Sr-EO + 0.5% SDS + 0.1% citric acid for 15 min and refrigerated for 15 days. Bacterial quality (mesophilic and psychrophilic total counts), chemical analysis (pH, TBA, and TVN), and sensory evaluation were performed on days 0, 3, 6, 9, 12, and 15. The bacterial load of mesophilic and psychrophilic bacteria increased over time for all four groups, but the number of bacteria in Sr-EO + SDS + citric acid group for mesophilic microbial index and in Sr-EO + SDS group for psychrophilic microbial index was less than that in other samples. At the end of storage time, the highest TVN value was observed for control group (41.06 ± 8.29 g / 100 g) and the lowest value (33 mg / 100 g) was found for Sr-EO+SDS +citric acid group followed by Sr-EO+SDS and Sr-EO groups. There were no significant differences in the TBA value and pH between the treatment and control samples. The control group showed undesirable and unacceptable sensory properties on day 6 whereas the sensory factors of Sr-EO and SDS+Sr-EO groups were within the optimal range of consumer acceptance until days 9 and 6, respectively. The results showed that compared to controls, the SDS+Sr-EO solution was more effective in extending the shelf life of refrigerated chicken fillets to four days. This type of combined treatment could be a useful way to increase the refrigerated storage time of chicken meat.

Abstract

Currently, meat products are considered one of the most consumed foods in the world. The food industry is not only responsible for providing good food for the general public, but paying attention to nutritional and health-giving components such as reducing the consumption of nitrites and preservatives such as ascorbic acid is also a challenge. It is great for experts and activists in this field. This research was done to investigate the replacement of nitrite and ascorbic acid in the formulation of fish sausage. The samples are in the form of 5 treatments including C (control sample without lettuce powder and blueberry powder), T1(1%lettuce powder and 5% blueberry powder), T2 (2%lettuce powder and 5%blueberry powder), T3 (4%lettuce powder and 5%blueberry powder) and T4 (6%lettuce powder and 5% blueberry powder) blueberries) were produced. Recently, researchers are looking for the use of natural substitutes instead of nitrite in the meat industry to maintain the quality of the products to an acceptable level and to prevent their early spoilage; in this regard, many researchers use turned to plant materials as good sources of antioxidants and antimicrobials. Because blueberries are a rich source of phenolic compounds, anthocyanin, and vitamin C, they can be considered a good source of natural antioxidants. Nitrate accumulation in vegetables such as lettuce is higher than in other vegetables. It is different in different organs of vegetables, so lettuce is a good source of nitrate supply. According to the results obtained from the chemical characteristics, the T4 treatment (fish sausage sample containing 6%lettuce powder and 5% blueberry powder) was in the standard range in all the chemical characteristics of the treatment.

Abstract

This study primarily aimed to identify and suggest appropriate rapeseed cultivars and their optimum sowing time. A factorial split-plot experiment was conducted in a complete randomized block design with three replications during two years (2014-2016). The study was carried out using six rapeseed cultivars, namely, Elvis, HL2012, L155, KR2, HW113 and Danob, three sowing dates (October 7, 17, and 27), and two concentrations of glycinebetaine (0 as control and 0.2%). The sowing dates and the GlycineBetaine (GB) were allotted to main plots and the six cultivars were allotted to subplots. The HL2012 cultivar had the highest seed yield (4,584 kg ha-1), seed oil content (44.6%) and seed oil yield (2,060 kg ha-1), which were achieved optimally in the first sowing date. Application of GB increased the average seed yield from 4,089 to 4,419 (kg ha-1), seed oil from 44 to 44.4% and seed oil yield from 1,818 to 1,976 (kg/ha). The amounts of proline and soluble carbohydrates in the plants increased from the first to the third sowing dates. The early sowing date and the application of GB had positive effects on the quantity and quality of rapeseed oil. The results of cluster analysis showed that three of the six cultivars could be suitable for cultivation in Karaj, Iran.

Abstract

Single point incremental forming (SPIF) is a cost-effective process with high flexibility and as a result, it is a suitable choice for low-batch production compared to traditional metal forming methods. In the present experimental research, the warm SPIF with ball nose tool was used in the forming of aluminum tailor welded blanks (TWB) that were joined together by the argon welding process. Aluminum sheets of 6061 and 5083 with an equal thickness of 1.5 mm were used as base metals and joined together using the butt welding method. In this research, the effect of four parameters of temperature, lubricant, step down, and feedrate were investigated on the formability and appearance of aluminum. The temperature range is between room temperature and 290 degrees Celsius, and three types of lubricants are used in the experimental tests. The Taguchi method was used for the design of the experiment. The results of the tests indicated that an increase in the temperature as the most effective parameter led to an increase in the formability of TWB by 79%. The lubrication, step down, and the feedrate was in the next ranks of effectiveness in the formability of aluminum TWB.
