Abstract

The increasing demand for food, especially poultry products, highlights critical challenges to food security. In this context, agricultural entrepreneurship in the poultry sub-sector plays a vital role in addressing these challenges by enhancing food supply and contributing to economic growth and development. This study specifically focuses on fostering entrepreneurship within the poultry industry in Mashhad, emphasizing its pivotal role in Iran's economy and its contribution to food security. Using an exploratory research method along with SWOT and Ordinal Priority Approach (OPA) analysis, 18 factors influencing entrepreneurship in the poultry industry were identified and weighted, leading to the development and ranking of 14 strategies. The results indicate that strategies such as transferring the tasks related to the poultry industry from the government to the private sector (SO) and using the capacities of knowledge-based companies for innovation in the supply of poultry input (WT) have the highest scores. In contrast, strategies such as organizing workshops and training courses (WO) and hiring skilled labore (ST) have lower scores. The findings suggest practical concepts for poultry entrepreneurs, including branding, technology adoption, establishing international animal welfare standards, collaborating with knowledge-based companies, and privatization under government supervision. These strategies can foster regional development by promoting entrepreneurship, which in turn can increase employment, economic growth, and productivity, ensuring a balanced distribution of opportunities and resources

Abstract

Aim: This study was performed to investigate the general mental health and aggression in female prisoners in Isfahan with the aim of determining whether the scores of aggression and general mental health differ according to selected demographic characteristics.
Methods: This cross-sectional, descriptive correlational study was performed in the central prison of Isfahan. Regarding the inclusion and exclusion criteria, 170 female prisoners were selected and completed the study self-administered questionnaires including Buss–Perry Aggression Questionnaire (BPAQ (and General Health Questionnaire (GHQ‑28) as well as demographic information. Data were analyzed by SPSS20.
Findings: Five questionnaires were excluded due to deficiencies. Finally, 165 valid completed questionnaires were prepared for the analysis. According to the traditional ranking and cut-off point of 22 for GHQ‑28 scores, prevalence of suspected psychological disorders among participants was 87.9%. ANOVA test results showed significant differences between the GHQ-28 scores of participants with different characteristics. Females under 20 years old (P≤.001), single females (p=.015), and those who had no children (p=.021) reported higher scores in general mental health (higher values in the scale indicate more psychological symptoms) Likewise, there were significant differences between the BPAQ scores of participants with different characteristics (P≤.001).
Conclusion: Younger and single female prisoners and those who had no children were suffering from lower mental health and more aggression. The present study emphasizes on the necessity of psychological assistance and support to improve mental health of these groups of female prisoners.

Abstract

The present research focuses on the question of genuine and un genuine in literary discourse by adopting the semiotic approach which regards discourse as process-oriented phenomenon in order to create semantic structures and investigate their effects on the interactive regime of actants based on Heidegger, Austin, Baudouin, Greimas and Tarasti thoughts in the field of semiotics and discourse analysis. At this point, to explain the language correlation with genuine and un genuine, our focus of attention as the corpus will be so–called Persian folk tale “Sezaye Niki Badist” by concentrating on this question that how folk narrative can replace the process of detecting genuine and un genuine by changing the signification production process. By genuine, we mean an utterance or statement which is linguistically and semiotically speaking the best choice according to the context and situation of discourse production and speaker's ontological point of view, while, un genuine refers to every property which disturbs or damages the natural process of signification production. The goal of the current research is to detect the conditions of realization of these opposite factors in language, according to selected corpus of Persian literary folk narrative to understand the manner of formation and their resulted changes in discourse. The main question in the current article is that what kind of factors intervene in the formation of these elements in the language and how these factors strength the discursive system, change and in some cases disarrange the realization of the signification and the reliability of the process.

Abstract

Agricultural sector is one of the most significant sectors in Iran. This sector accounts for a significant share of GDP, employment and non-oil exports in the economy. Moreover, it produces food and also raw materials used to produce manufacturing products. Therefore, the effects of macro policies on agriculture need to be well understood. This study aims to investigate the effects of exports and tax policy on agricultural employment in Iran during the period 1979 – 2005. Autoregressive distributed lag (ARDL) approach is used to estimate the empirical model. The findings of this study show that direct tax has significant and negative effect on agricultural employment while exports have significant and positive effect.

Abstract

International trade expansion and export development have been the center of attention by the economists, policy makers and the cornerstone of planning in many countries of the world. Agricultural and industrial sectors are the crucial economic sectors in every country that have a parity role in preparing food for people and industrial inputs. This article using vector error correction models considers the simultaneous effect of economic policies on agricultural and industrial exports during the years 1971 to 2005. After testing the stationery, Johansen test was used for long run estimation. Results have shown that monetary policy has positive and significant effect on industrial and agricultural exports in short run, while interest rate and government expenditures have significant inverse and direct effect on industrial and agricultural exports respectively, and exchange rate policy has the same effect on industrial and agricultural export in long-run. Finally, the strength of each variable was investigated on export. It is recommended that increasing non oil export, the real value of interest rate is determined and by rising volume of money and then investing it and improving commodity supply, inflation will decrease and therefore non oil export will increase.

Abstract

The assumption of a linear relationship between export and economic growth in previous investigations may lead to invalid inference if the actual relationship is nonlinear. In present study the relationship between export and economic growth in economies of Caspian Sea border countries (Azerbaijan, Iran, Kazakhstan, Russia, and Turkmenistan) is explored with emphasis on the effect of nonlinearities on the causal relationships. Results of study show that nonlinearities exist in the dynamic relationship between exports and GDP growth. Nonlinear smooth transition autoregressive (STAR) model results suggest that nonlinear Granger causality flows from exports to output growth and vice versa. Predictive accuracy tests further confirm the appropriateness of the nonlinear models over the linear model specification.

Abstract

The study of wave transmission over submerged obstacles and the flow pattern that formed around the obstacle has been always an important subject because of the affect directly on wave and the changes in wave energy that is crucial in the design of devices, which absorb wave’s energy and coastal breakwaters. In this research, the flow pattern induced by solitary wave passing over a submerged vertical thin plate has been studied. A wave maker piston has been used to generate the solitary wave and particle image velocimetry (PIV) technique has been used to flow visualization that this technique is non- introsire optic method, which can measure the fluid velocity with any changes in flow pattern. The study of the flow pattern visualization, velocity values and vorticity shows, at first the flow separation shear layer forms and the clockwise vortex generate at the rear edge of the obstacle before the wave arrives to the barrier. Then the vortex grows in size and cussed the water move upward like vertical jet on upstream. Then the fluid enters to the downstream and generates the counterclockwise vortex in this region, which is less than the first clockwise vortex in power that makes an important difference with the thick geometry researches. In addition, the non-dimensional horizontal components of fluid velocity at the time of shear layer formation at the rear edge of the plate have been studied and it has been compared with the case that the barrier is rectangular.

Abstract

Optimum design and performance improvement of the Heat Recovery Steam Generator (HRSG) have noticeable effects on the thermal efficiency of the combined cycle power plants. Therefore, HRSG must be designed in such way that maximizes the heat recovery and improves the overall performance of the plant.
In this paper, a method for design and optimization of a triple pressure HRSG is proposed. It is shown how to simultaneously optimize the operating and geometric design parameters of the HRSG by using the constructal theory. Considering the minimum total entropy generation as the objective function, the optimum parameters in the HRSG unit are derived by using the genetic algorithm method under the fixed total volume condition. Optimized total volume is derived by converting the exergy destruction to cost of entropy generation in order to compare with the capital cost and the results show that there is a trade-off between them. Also, aspect ratios of the units, the heat transfer area for each component of the HRSG and thermodynamic properties are significant features of the flow configuration inducted by the Constructal design. Furthermore, the effects of changing in the temperature and flow rate of hot gas on the optimal values of the total volume, power and steam production are determined.

Abstract

Today, with the growing competition in domestic and international markets, the ability of agribusiness companies to survive and to grow depends on choosing and implementing a sustainable business strategy. However, this task actually is not as easy as it seems, because it is important to consider various criteria and interrelations between them for choosing the best business strategy. Additionally, matching business strategy with organizational resources is essential for gaining a competitive advantage. Using the ANP model, the purpose of the current study was to select the most suitable business strategy for one of the largest saffron companies in Iran. The results revealed that differentiation strategy had the highest priority with 39% of the influence. Another finding was that managerial capabilities among organizational resources were relatively more important in choosing a business strategy. According to the findings of the study, it is suggested that agribusiness firm managers pay special attention to three important elements, namely, improving the financial condition, knowing the needs of customers, and creation of new innovative products or services, to implement a differentiation strategy.

Abstract

Agricultural sector plays a fundamental role in development, especially in developing countries. Investment in targeted agribusinesses can develop and improve agricultural value chains. Because of capital shortages and different investment requirements of the sector, the capital allocation has become an important decision-making issue for managers and investors of the agricultural sector in recent years. Investors have many alternative investment options in the agriculture sector and factors such as return on investment, investor expertise and interest, government policies, and the comparative advantages of each region can affect the direction of the capital to different agricultural subsectors. The main objective of this study was to investigate investment priorities in the livestock and poultry value chains of Khorasan Razavi Province in Iran. This paper employs the Analytic Network Process (ANP) model for agribusiness investment decisions, which is one of the important Multi-Criteria Decision-Making (MCDM) methods. The contribution of this research is that it ranks agribusiness activities on the livestock and poultry value chains and determines the most important areas for investment direction. The results show that “government policies and laws” are the most important factor for business selection in the livestock and poultry subsectors. Furthermore, livestock and poultry feed businesses contribute the most to the progress of the value chains. Therefore, stability in policy-making and appropriate legislation to support agricultural businesses can be effective in this regard.

Abstract

The efficiency estimation of industry-specific exports plays a vital role in identifying export potentials and appropriate marketing strategies. This paper aimed to investigate the main determinants of Iran’s seafood exports to its 32 trading partners from 2001 to 2018, using the Stochastic Frontier Gravity (SFG) model. Moreover, this paper analyzed the efficiency and export potentials of Iran’s seafood to its trading partners. The findings confirmed the consistency of SFG for Iran’s seafood exports. The results indicated that the Gross Domestic Product (GDP) of Iran and its trading partners had significant positive effects. In contrast, the bilateral exchange rate, common border, common religion, distance, economic crisis, and sanctions had significant negative effects on Iran’s seafood exports. In addition, the results of export efficiency revealed that Iran has great export potential to its trading partners, particularly neighboring countries. People's awareness of the benefits of seafood in neighboring countries with low consumption can increase their demand and increase Iran's exports to them. Considering the high export potential in these countries with high religious and cultural similarities, it is suggested that Iran should strengthen its food trade relations with neighboring countries such as Iraq, Turkmenistan, Lebanon, Kuwait, the United Arab Emirates, and Afghanistan.
